Jordan Peele’s latest films, noIt hits theaters this week, but as reviews come in, it seems pretty clear that Peele has had another hit on his hands. sometime on wednesday, no It sat at 88 percent of critics on Rotten Tomatoes. With Peele’s previous films, Get out And the we, both received so much critical praise, it’s no surprise that many fans feel the director may be one of the horror greats — and for one fan, comic book author Adam Ellis, perhaps even the greatest of all time. But not so fast with that kind of praise, at least not on Peele’s watch. The director responded with appreciation for sentiment, but also with love for another master of horror, John Carpenter.
In response to the post, Bell initially wrote “Sir, please put the phone down, I beg of you,” before making it clear that he liked Ellis’ enthusiasm, but that he “would not tolerate any slander of John Carpenter!!” Ellis also shared an edited version of the popular meme that is honestly too good to see for yourself. Regardless of Carpenter’s work being appreciated, Peele deserves credit for directing horror genre films that have received a great deal of critical acclaim as well as being well received by audiences. Not only that, both of them Get out And the we It’s helped a lot in shifting conversations about horror movies and movies and it seems like Nope is well on its way to doing the same. ComicBook.com’s Nathaniel Braille won praise for the film, calling it a “work of science fiction.”
“If you’re a fan of Peele’s movies, this is probably his most interesting project. When you think about no Heading left, the director makes sure it goes right, and that makes him one of the only filmmakers to make his own original IP on juvenile movies. With some great performances by Palmer, Kaluuya, Yoon and Beria, no It is a summer movie. If you are looking for a movie that will scare you and think about what is going on in the world, then this is the movie you are looking for. no It is a work of science fiction artwork.
